Pietro Capogrosso Andare lenti

Tuesday January 22, 2002 saw the launch of a new solo show by Pietro Capogrosso—a young artist living and working between Milan and Trani—in which twelve of his variously sized canvases are on display. Capogrosso’s works find their inspiration in the landscape of his native Puglia, although, as he paints it, this landscape has been greatly distanced from reality. The viewer can only imagine the region’s particular lights, colors, and sea because these are abstract images in which no trace of reality remains. It is as if the artist wishes us to know not the image of these places, but their memory.
A catalogue, including a text by Elisa Fulco, has been published to coincide with the exhibition.
