Premio Ghiggini Arte 2002
Following on from the Pisani show, the Galleria Ghiggini was host to the group exhibition from which the winner of the GhigginiArte Prize for young artists and sculptors was selected. With this event, the Galleria Ghiggini aims to put the spotlight on the achievements of young artists from the Varese area. By providing them with the use of the gallery showrooms, and by organizing a solo show for the most talented entrant, the gallery is able to bring these young artists to the attention of art lovers, critics, journalists, and the general public alike. This year’s finalists were: Guglielmo Arrighi, Serena Barile, Simone Berrini, Francesco Gibin, Federica Lazzati, Laura Lo Piccolo, Deborah Nogaretti, Serena Piccolo, and Anna Siva. The panel of judges included: Giuseppe Bonini, Art Historian and Professor at the Accademia di Brera in Milan, Emilio Ghiggini, Founder of the Galleria Ghiggini, Gottardo Ortelli, Painter and Professor at the Accademia di Brera, in Milan, Luigi Piatti, Art Historian, Silvio Zanella, Painter and Advisor to the Center for the Organization of Contemporary Art Museums in the Lombard Region. They were assisted in their choice by a further fifty adjudicators. Elected by a secret ballot, the winner of the GhigginiArte Prize 2002 was announced in a ceremony held at the Galleria Ghiggini on Sunday November 4.
