Stefano Scheda Siti
Based principally in Bologna, Stefano Scheda (Faenza 1957) is one of the most important young names in contemporary photography whose work, despite its international quality and approach, nonetheless retains a distinctly Italian “stamp.”
The works on display in this exhibition further develop his already well-established and distinctive “painterly handling” of the photographic medium. From them emerges a new interpretation of the “body” as subject: no longer translated as obscure fantasies on watery surfaces, it is now considered in relation to space.
In this respect, these latest pieces constitute the sequel to and evolution of the highly stylized imagery that has been a distinguishing feature of Scheda’s work for the last three years and can be traced from his earliest pieces, the Artifici, through his Imposture and Solarium. In the Siti presented here, architectural space towers above the figures, highlighting the emotional element in his work yet further.
This exhibition at Ugo Ferranti gallery provides the opportunity to examine numerous large-scale photographic works (C. Print, Lambda Digital-print on aluminum).
