Paola De Pietri Opere recenti

In this latest solo show, Paola De Pietri is exhibiting a new series of medium- and large-scale inkjet color photographs, whose primary inspiration is the experience of nature.
For De Pietri, experiencing nature signifies focusing intently on, observing, and capturing in each shot the natural events unfolding before her eyes. As is particularly apparent from her diptychs, but also from other works, her studies attempt to give time a form through space, and vice versa. These works are not images of landscapes; they are not depictions of more or less anthropologized space. Instead, they portray the instability of landscape/nature. De Pietri’s observations on instability, her explorations of movement/motion and of the continuity of space and time, are investigated with greater sensitivity in a series of works devoted to the “Volo degli uccelli e alla percezione del vento” (the flight of birds and the perception of the wind). Here certain details are focused upon or photographed from within the visual plane of other, more narrative images.

Paola De Pietri (Reggio Emilia, 1960) is held to be one of the most interesting figures on the contemporary Italian art scene. She has shown in numerous exhibitions in private and public galleries both at home and abroad. Recently some of her works were bought by the prestigious Gallerie d'Arte Pubbliche.
