The gallery was founded in 1966 by Luce Monachesi that still runs it. Since the beginning the gallery worked to present vanguard and young artists. During the sixties the gallery welcomed artists as Vaserely, Cruz Diez and Soto. In the seventies a personal exhibition of Max Bill, Robert Ryman, and group shows with works by Daniel Buren, Robert Barry, Gilbert & George, Bruce Naumann, Lawrence Weiner, William Wegman, John Baldessari etc.. Among the Italian artists of the seventies the major personalities of the conceptual art and arte povera repeatedly exposed their works: starting with Alighiero Boetti to Emilio Prini, Maurizio Mochetti, Luciano Fabro, Jannis Kounellis, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Vettor Pisani. During the eighties and nineties were exhibited many exhibitions by Luca Patella, Diego Esposito, Cloti Ricciardi, Felice Levini and once again two exhibitions by Mochetti. In the nineties two exhibitions by Enzo Cucchi, Marlene Dumas, Ruth Scnele and three exhibitions dedicated to Joseph Beuys, plus other artists as Franz Prati, Dario Passi and a special thanks to the friends Tano Festa in 1999 and Franco Angeli in 1998. In the year 1996 was paid tribute to the parents by Luce Monachesi in occasion of the thirty years of the gallery with the exhibition “Mom and dad” , only true homage to Sante Monachesi her father and Parisella engraver her mother. The gallery in addition functions as archive for the work by Sante Monachesi. The gallery has also elaborated many foreign exhibitions in collaboration with the Minister of foreign Affairs, the embassies and the Italian Institutes for culture (Mexico city, Rio de Janeiro, Pechin, Seoul, Caracas, New-York, Stockholm, and Frankfurt and Kassel) in museums and other institutional places. The gallery interested mainly to today’s painters and sculptures is interested also in organising photographic shows of major photographers as Elisabetta Catalano, Gianfranco Gorgoni, Alberto Orsini and the present “Skin” by Laurent Elie Badessi. The gallery deals with artists that have a major international market.
