Spirale Arte – Arte Contemporanea, founded and run by Marco Rossi, began its gallery work in 1996 in Via Mortara in Milan. In 1998 it inaugurated a gallery in Pietrasanta, followed by another in Verona in 2000 and the move of the Milan gallery to Corso Venezia 29 that same year.
Spirale Arte – Arte Contemporanea is not just a gallery, it is a group of highly motivated people who handle public relations, relations with the press and run the three galleries. Their work is aimed at organizing and promoting shows of their artists not only in these galleries, but also in others and in public in Italy and abroad.
Spirale Arte – Arte Contemporanea also engages in a difficult but exciting search for new artists, in addition to valorizing well-known ones.
The artists Spirale Arte – Arte Contemporanea handles include Gianfranco Asveri, Sergi Barnils, Tommaso Cascella, Enzo Esposito, Giosetta Fioroni, Franco Guerzoni and Medhat Shafik, all members of the abstract-informal artistic area that Spirale Arte has been promoting for years. This is an informal, material abstractionism that takes many forms, from the opulent and refined work of Shafik to Cascella’s calibrated minimalism, to Barnils’ more exuberant abstractionism. Not to mention Asveri’s “instinctive” language and those that have become “classics”, such as the delicate, poetic works by Giosetta Fioroni and the by now famous ones by Esposito and Guerzoni.
At the same time, Spirale Arte’s figurative section is devoted to valorizing and promoting the works of several artists tied to the new figurative movement. Among these are Libyan-born Ali Hassoun, a fine interpreter of the current trend to blending diverse cultural languages, and Luca Giovagnoli, who includes lyrical elements in a decidedly abstract framework. Recently acquired artists are Francesco di Lernia of Turin and Neo-Futurist Marco Lodola, to whom Spirale Arte has devoted this year one-man shows in its Pietrasanta and Milan galleries.
