With the partnership programme with the Gallery Cannaviello in Milan, the gallery Nuova Artesegno turns to a painting research with a prominently innovative character, both as to contents and as to the expressive choices, which spread out in Italy during the 1990s.
Next to the development of post-conceptual research and to the increasingly larger space, occupied by video and photography, a group of young Italian artists has strongly suggested once again a new figurative painting, thus showing a remarkable inventive ability accrued by exercising their look, disenchanted and, sometimes, ironical, towards a deeply changing reality.
Even if there are many differences, there are some artists that tackle once again the problem of relating to reality by means of a figure, which, though, does not limit itself to the natural datum, but it is able to interpret the technologic revolution in progress with a renewed way of looking. First, television, then Internet and the concept of cyberspace, have deeply and significantly changed the way of perceiving and, so, to see things: all this is filtered and returned to the look of the painting of these young artists.
The goal of the gallery is to implement an exhibition programme, as organic as possible, detecting in Italy the presence of artists, who have in common the same sensitiveness, thus suggesting them to the public in their peculiarity and originality, both thematic and formal.
