Christie's auction of Contemporary Art is to be held in Sydney at the Bryon Kennedy Centre, Fox Studios on 26 August and is the biggest yet staged by the company in Australia. Likely to realize total sales of between $ 566,500-772,500 (€ 647,750-883,300) the burgeoning interest in the category follows the world-wide trend of enormous success being seen in Christie's Contemporary art auctions in New York and London. Christie's Annette Larkin, Associate Director and Head of Contemporary Art, Australia said, "We are extremely pleased by the high quality of contemporary art appearing now on the open market. It displays Australian collectors' confidence as both sellers and buyers of contemporary art and their acknowledgement of the huge interest this area is receiving." (James Goulder)
