Now that the expansion of Sotheby’s York Avenue headquarters is finished, the company is to fill its premises with exhibitions as well as what's coming up for sale. From October the 8th to the 22nd, Sotheby's will present an exhibition of emerging artists, including the winner and finalists of Beck's Futures 2, a two year old prize given every April to a young British artist, with a cash award of $ 30,000 (€ 32,570). Unlike the Turner prize, which gives money only to its winner, Beck's Futures also gives each of the 10 finalists $ 6,000 (€ 6,500). The Beck's Futures finalists were exhibited first at the Institute for Contemporary Arts, London and now for the first time in New York. This year’s winner is Tim Stoner, a 30 year old painter whose work has already been bought by British collectors including Charles Saatchi. (James Goulder)
