The contemporary art collection known as the TI Group is to be sold at Sotheby’s, Olympia in London on Wednesday, the 14th of November 2001. The collection built up by TI plc (an engineering firm which has now been merged with the Smiths Group) consists of 238 works including Chris Ofili, Tracey Emin and Jake and Dinos Chapman. Of particular note are Tracey Emin’s neon light installation Be Faithful to your Dreams estimated at $ 22,080-29,440 (€ 24,270-32,360), 12 watercolours by Chris Ofili estimated at $ 36,810-51,530 (€ 40,450-56,630), and a group of 84 etchings by Dinos and Jake Chapman of their sculptural work the Disasters of War, (a table top of miniaturised sculptures based on Goya’s series of etchings) estimated at $ 22,080-44,170 (€ 24,270-48,540). Other artists represented in the sale include Stephen Farthing, Andrzej Jackowski, Vanessa Jackson, Christopher Cook, Estelle Thompson and Rachel Budd with estimates ranging from $ 740 (€ 810) to $ 44,170 (€ 48,540).
