Data filed by over 100 leading art galleries in the UK during the 1999-2000 financial year have show an average growth of 9.3% (gross), despite concerns of a profit downturn. According to the Art Newspaper and the Business Ratio Report, the best results were recorded by the Simon Dickinson Group, with dealings in Old Master, 19th century and Modern paintings, which posted sales of $ 137.3 million (€ 151.4 million), followed by Richard Green, (Old Master, and 19th century paintings) which saw revenues of $ 100.8 million (€ 119.2 million). Other galleries which featured strongly were Anthony d’Offay, Britain’s leading contemporary art dealer (who however have decided to shut up shop), with $ 27.2 million (€ 30 million), whilst Leslie Waddington, reported a turnover of $ 23 million (€ 25.4 million).
