A week after Sotheby’s axed 14% of its workforce, the company is set to partake in the Seventh Annual Artwalk NY, a daylong art event to benefit homeless New Yorkers on Saturday, the 20th of October. Proceedings kick off with a discussion panel with participants including Jerry Gorovoy, Louise Neri, Shirin Neshat, Kiki Smith, Robert Storr and Lisa Yuskavage. This will be followed by curator-led tours of artists' studios throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn, including the artists Ross Bleckner, Christo and Jean Claude and Christopher Wool. The jamboree culminates with a gala evening at the Metropolitan Pavilion and the sale of 25 works and an on-line auction of 150 works with estimates varying from $ 3,000-50,000 (€ 3,320-55,270). The day-long events are in honour of Louise Bourgeois for her commitment to the homeless. (Andrew Moore)
