12/11/2001
From the 15th to the 18th of November 2001, Artissima opens to the public again with international contemporary art in Turin. This annual fair, now in its eighth year, hosts 153 galleries from 16 different countries: from Europe to Japan, from Canada to South America to the United States. Galleries from New York are here too: American-European FineArt, Cristinerose, I-20, Nikolai Fine Art and Riva Gallery. Three exhibition-events run along side the fair: Nuove complicità groups together about forty works from private collections from Turin, while the section Video Lab exhibits recent examples of video-art and Present Future hosts 12 young artists selected by a dozen international critics and curators. One of these artists will receive the “Illycaffè Present Future” prize ($ 10,000, € 11,170) and will have the possibility of having their work reproduced on a series of coffee cups. Furthermore a fund of $ 46,190 (€ 51,600) has been set up for the acquisition of works of art for the permanent collections of the GAM in Turin and the Castle of Rivoli. (Elena Balzani)
