The Modern and Contemporary auction that will be held tomorrow, 27th of November, by Sotheby’s in Milan will focus on Italian Twentieth century art. 291 lots with estimates ranging between $ 140-227,650 (€ 160-258,230) will be offered in two separate sessions, at 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. An acrylic by Franco Angeli (Half dollar, 1972) will start from a quote of $ 140 (€ 160), while at least $ 227,650 (€ 258,230) are necessary for the acquisition of Jeu de la ficelle, an oil on canvas (61 x 92 cm) from 1946, by Massimo Campigli. Among the top lots, two small wax heads by Medardo Rosso ($ 27,000-36,400, € 31,000-41,320) and a group of Futurist works that include two noteworthy pieces by Giacomo Balla: Sbandieramenti (1915), from the private collection of Bruno Munari (estimate $ 27,000-54,600, € 41,000-61,980), and Dinamismo d’automobile (1913), inspired by the movement of a car in motion. Among the works by Lucio Fontana, Concetto spaziale on white background with pebbles ($ 159,000-182,170, € 180,000-206,590) and New York, with graffiti on copper ($ 45,000-68,300, € 51,000-77,470). Also to be noted among the most recent works are two works by Stefano Arienti ($ 2,200-2,700, € 2,500-3,100). (Elena Balzani)
