Christie’s, Italy published its annual sales balance for 2001, registering proceeds amounting to over $ 29.5 million (€ 32.8 million) and sale percentages of 75% by lot and 77.5% by value. As far as the sale of paintings are concerned, the Modern and Contemporary Art department closed 2001 with proceeds of $ 6.6 million, (€ 7.3 million), registering a 3% increase in comparison to the previous year. The 19th century paintings department, registered proceeds of $ 2.5 million (€ 2.8 million), increasing its performance on the year 2000 by 5%. The sale results of the Old Master paintings department remained unvaried with respect to the previous year, settling around $ 3.9 million (€ 4,3 million). (Annalisa Rossi)
