ART2002 London Art Fair, which runs from Wednesday the 16th to Sunday 20th of January, will host a unique selling show to raise funds for the Whitechapel Art Gallery. The show, featuring specially commissioned watercolours by over 25 London artists, will be launched at the Charity Preview of ART2002 on Tuesday the 15th of January, and will be the centrepiece of a special East End Focus at the fair. All the artists in the Whitechapel show have been selected from the long list of successful artists who took part in Whitechapel Opens and Open Studios between 1977 and 1998. Artists confirmed so far include: Edward Allington, Tony Bevan, Sonia Boyce, Adam Dant, Ian Davenport, Angela de la Cruz, Peter Doig, Claude Heath, Nicky Hoberman, David Leapman, Julian Opie, Shafique Uddin, Paul Winstanley, Cathy de Monchaux, Cornelia Parker, Bob & Roberta Smith, Rachel Whiteread and Alison Wilding. Alongside the Whitechapel at ART2002 will be a special East London Focus area featuring other leading art spaces selected by the Whitechapel including Chisenhale Gallery, The Showroom and The Wapping Project.
