Among the top lots featured in the sale devoted to Post-War art that Christie’s London will hold in two sessions on the 6th (7 p.m.) and the 7th of February (2 p.m.) are No. 15 by Mark Rothko and three paintings by Francis Bacon (Man in Blue VII, Head, Portrait of Man with Glasses IV). Overall 130 lots will be offered, with estimates ranging between $7,000 and $1 million (€ 8,100-1.3 million). If $7,000 (€ 8,100) are enough to enter the competition for the acquisition of Dachshund, a small metal sculpture (7 cm) made in 1928 by the American artist Alexander Calder, at least $1 million (€ 1.3 million) is needed in order to try to secure the abstract work by Mark Rothko. As well as the works mentioned above, estimated between $400,000-700,000 (€ 490,000-816,000), to be noted are a monochrome by Yves Klein (estimate: $700,000-990,000, € 816,000-1.1 million) and a sculpture by Eduardo Chillida, La mesa de Giacometti I, (estimate: $ 282,000-424,000, € 326,000-490,000).
