Prices for Lucio Fontana’s cut canvases were in the region of $ 150,000 (€ 180,650) at Sotheby’s, Milan back in May, showing that his prices continue to dominate the market. In fact, another five “cuts” will be put up for auction on the 25th and 28th June in London by Christie’s, with estimates ranging from $ 64,000-210,000 (€ 73,900-242,500). At the same time a series of 14 Stations of the Cross (Via Crucis) in coloured ceramics, dating from 1947, will be on exhibition until the 29th July at the Adriano Bernareggi Museum in Bergamo, Italy. The complete series, one of the most coherent expressions of spatialism by the master has an insurance value of $ 542,000 (€ 619,750). It will be shown with two works on paper depicting the Crucifixion, worth $ 2,260 (€ 2,580), and also one of his most famous “cuts”, Spatial Concept dating from 1965, estimated at $ 451,640 (€ 516,460).
